Tomball Real Estate

Tomball may be a small town on the outskirts of the Houston City limits. Though it's size and location outside the Houston City Limits may fit the definition of a suburb; locals recoil at such generalizations. Tomball has been around for over 90 years, first as a successful railroad town, and later as an oil-boom town, happily independent of its metro-neighbor to the south. Located along State Highway 249, 28 miles Northwest of downtown Houston, Tomball straddles Harris and Montgomery Counties. The town's population of 9,000 is part of a much larger community of over 159,000 residing in a host of surrounding residential subdivisions and neighborhoods.

Tomball's strategic location makes it an important regional growth corridor for the Houston Metro-Area. While it's sense of community and commitment to small town living continues to attract new residents each year. Functioning as a commercial center for a large portion of Houston's rapidly growing northwest quadrant, the Tomball area has developed a strong economic base.

Compaq Computer Corporation, Kwik Kopy Corporation, Friendswood Development, BJ Services and many other companies have recently made Tomball their home. Many residents work for these local companies and the city's solid base of professionals keep Tomball's median income hovering around $45,764.

The scope of housing choices in the Tomball area is broad and includes custom homes, apartments, rental homes and resales. In keeping with its rural past, Tomball is also known as a horse friendly town, where numerous equestrian-oriented subdivisions are available with large amounts of land. Tomball homes range from a $40,000 starter to a $1,500,000 spread, with plenty of options in between. Median home price for the area stands at around $168,000.

Tomball is not leaving its future to chance. Excellent schools including The Tomball Independent School District (TISD) and many private and parochial enjoy broad community support. In addition Tomball boasts its own college. Tomball Community College is a comprehensive community college offering life-long learning opportunities from traditional academic coursework to vocational training and career exploration.

Tomball is close to everything if you should decide to leave the city limits. Bush Intercontinental Airport, or any of the unique shops and malls, can be reached within minutes without encountering the traffic common to major cities.
