Two additional major explosions, five major hurricanes, two depressions and two world wars later, old timers refer to Texas City as "The Town that would not die".

Because of its ample room to grow, Texas City and the north side of Galveston Bay as a whole is replete with an abundance of housing options. Texas City holds the distinction of recently being named an "All American City" by the National Civic League.
