Scarsdale Real Estate

Scarsdale is part of a unique area southeast of downtown Houston known as the Ellington/South Belt Community after the newly completed, Beltway 8 (Sam Houston Tollway) that runs through the area. The other half of the area's name comes from Ellington Airfield, which is in close proximity to the Ellington/South Belt community.

Scarsdale is one of the newer subdivisions in the area, and was built around the same time as adjacent Scarsdale and Kirkwood Communities. Some of the older subdivisions in the community include Beverly Hills, Gulf Palms, and the Genoa town site. The City of Houston annexed Sycamore Valley, another subdivision in the area, in 1994. The completion of Beltway 8 has stimulated residential and commercial development throughout the area and new home construction is booming near the western subdivision of Bridgegate.

Residents of Scarsdale enjoy a host of amenities including a nearby hospital, community college, senior citizens centers, two libraries, a funeral home and wide variety of churches. Nearby Ellington and Hobby Airports are available and easy to access. Residents of Scarsdale are served by the Pasadena and Clear Creek Independent School Districts. According to year 2000 data, the median household income for the Scarsdale Area was $49,861 with the median home price holding at $78,026.
