Pasadena Real Estate

Located southeast of Houston, Pasadena is the second largest city in the Houston Metropolitan area. Forever enshrined by the 1980 movie "Urban Cowboy" -- a film in which John Travolta and Debra Winger meet and fall in love at Gilley's -- an enormous honky-tonk bar co-owned by country music star Mickey Gilley. The mechanical bull, on which Travolta rode in the movie, became a staple in trendy cowboy bars across the country. But Pasadena is proving itself more than the stuff of Hollywood legend.

Covering 44.2 square miles, the city anchors the southeast corner of the Houston metro area nestled between Interstate 45 and Texas Highway 225 stretching south to the City of Clear Lake and the LBJ Space Center. With its premier location near the Houston Ship Channel and its related processing, transportation and petrochemical industries, as well as the NASA Space Center in nearby Clear Lake, Pasadena has grown over 18 percent since 1990 with an estimated population of 144,174.

Sleepy refinery town no more, Pasadena now covers some 45 square miles, anchoring the southeast corner of the Houston Metro area, reflecting the wave of unprecedented growth made the area the 7th largest in the country. Combined with a low cost of living, young workforce (average age 29.9), with a median household income of $42,541 (above national average) and abundant affordable housing, Pasadena will continue to attract new residents from Texas and beyond.

The primarily residential housing stock in Pasadena starts around $77,502, well within reach of the typical first time homebuyer. Pasadena residents enjoy ample community amenities including 15 tennis courts, 21 ball fields, hiking and biking trails, picnic grounds, and other family popular family gathering spots in Pasadena's 47 parks, 5 swimming pools, and 5 game room buildings.

Pasadena children are served by the Pasadena Independent School District one of only two school districts in the state with more than 40,000 students, to claim "Recognized" status for five consecutive years as rated by the Texas Education Agency.
