Nassau Bay Real Estate

At the southern tip of Harris County between the cities of Houston and Galveston, Nassau Bay stands as a city built on a "culture of technology and innovation". That's some claim. But considering this is the town that NASA built, there's probably more than a kernel of truth to it. Built at the front gate of NASA's Johnson Space Center, Nassau City was the brainchild of some enterprising Houston businessmen who conceived a state of the art community for the growing JSC workforce. With the help of some local ranchers they broke ground in 1962.

Today Nassau Bay is a unique community of over 4,000. While scientists, astronauts, cosmonauts and others who punch the clock at NASA predominate; Nassau Bay has also become a favorite for aerospace and petrochemical industry personnel and other industry professionals as well. This concentration of intellectual capital has attracted Nassau Bay an enviable share of the high tech and aerospace industry as well. Over 200 businesses and agencies, with corporations like IBM, InDyne, Inc., GB Tech, Boeing and Lockheed-Martin have found Nassau Bay an ideal home, with pools of resources and expertise found nowhere else. Nassau Bay is connected, with a fiber network, offering unlimited bandwidth. Everything from Space Park Drive to NASA Parkway reminds you that Nassau Bay means cutting-edge research and inspired invention.

The median income for a Nassau Bay household in the city was $57,353 while the median income for a family was $77,252. From lakeside estates to apartment complexes, Nassau Bay has a wide range of affordable quality home options ranging in price from $145,000 to $328,000. The average cost for a home in Nassau Bay is $165,000 for a four-bedroom two-bath home of approximately 2,500 square-feet. Home prices appear to have stabilized with the average price per square foot rising 1.2% between 04'-05'.

Nassau Bay homes pack more bang for the buck according to the ACCRA Cost of Living Index. A 1,800 square-foot home in the Nassau Bay area costs considerably less than it would in U.S. cities of comparable size. With three airports within an hour's drive, Nassau Bay is accessible from anywhere in the world. Daily direct flights from Europe, Asia, Latin America and Canada into George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston Hobby Airport and Ellington Field make Nassau Bay as close as ever.
