Montgomery Real Estate

Montgomery is a city located 70 miles northeast of Houston in Montgomery County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 489. The one square mile "official" city limits give way to a larger community of master-planned subdivisions that easily push the larger Montgomery Area over 30,000.

Considered the birthplace of the Texas flag, Montgomery had humble enough beginnings as a trading post and became the seat of Montgomery County in 1826. The town's proximity to Houston made it convenient for visitors to stop and see the historic downtown and other local attractions.

While welcoming to the growth and development that has transformed this rural community into an established and popular Houston suburb, city leaders have taken care to ensure the charm and history of the town remain intact. Reinvestment in one of the city's older subdivisions, Buffalo Springs, as well as in other developments within the city, will set the standard for future developments in the area.

According to year 2000 data, Montgomery is home to 17,069 households. The median income for a Montgomery family was estimated at $77,762 and the median home was $78,800. School aged children are served by the Montgomery Independent School District.
