Mostly a rural farming community, the city of Manvel officially "arrived" On September 8, 1931, when the Texas Oil Company struck oil in the city and Manvel became a rich oil-producing community. A high percentage of residents are still employed in some facet of Houston's enormous oil and natural gas industry, though Manvel is becoming increasingly popular with Houston commuters as well as those employed in the Shipping Industry.
Manvel's close proximity to Hobby Airport (10 minutes), the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Rail line as well as the numerous Gulf Coast attractions such as Galveston Island, Kemah and NASA make it ideal for business and families.
