Alvin is a city in Brazoria County, 30 minutes southeast of downtown Houston. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 21,413. Throughout its various periods as cattle town, rice farming community and petro-chemical dominated economy that continues today, Alvin still has much to offer residents and visitors alike.

Located on the campus of Alvin Community College, the museum covers the entire life and sports career of the famous pitcher and includes a machine that lets the visitor feel what it is like to catch one of Nolan Ryan's pitches.
