Addicks Real Estate

Addicks is located in the westernmost portion of Houson, north of Interstate 10. Most of the area is made up of the Addicks Reservoir, a large flood control dam. The surrounding area, which is most subject to flooding, is being developed for recreational uses, including a golf course, a wildlife sanctuary and soccer fields. Park Ten, an area between I-10 and the Reservoir, is developed as office, commercial, and light industrial.

The Addicks Area currently includes some 9,000 residents living in two single-family subdivisions and several apartment complexes. The median income for a family in this area is $51,489 with the average home cost estimated at $82,327.

A unique feature of the Addicks Area is its near exclusive access to Buffalo Bayou, one of Houston's main waterways. It begins on the west side of the city and meanders east toward the Houston Ship Channel. Along the way the Buffalo Bayou accents several major parks and numerous smaller neighborhood parks. The Addicks Dam is used to keep the bayou at a specific height during downtown festivals. From Addicks Dam, the bayou flows east under Texas Highway 6. At the foot of Addicks Dam begins Terry Hershey Park - an enormous open area consisting of the land on both sides of the bayou.

Here, walking and biking trails follow Buffalo Bayou from Texas State Highway 6 to Texas State Highway 8. The mountain biking trails, are known as The Anthills, are renown in the biking community and are located mainly on the south bank of the bayou. On the east side of Loop 610, Buffalo Bayou passes into Memorial Park through to River Oaks Country Club. From here the bayou enters Buffalo Bayou Park through downtown Houston until it reaches the Houston Ship Channel.
