1960 East Houston Real Estate

Houston's FM 1960 cuts due east at Bush Intercontinental Airport. The communities of Humble, Kingwood and Atascocita dominate this residential growth corridor, approximately 30 miles northeast of Houston's central business district. Abundant with gently rolling terrain, dense woodlands and natural beauty, these three communities lie within a 10-mile radius of the FM 1960 and Highway 59 intersection. Outdoor lovers can take their pick of several nearby golf courses or check out Lake Houston and the fishing and boating opportunities it affords. These unique amenities are making northeast Houston a popular choice for families and sportsmen alike.

Humble, with a population of 14,579, is the classic small town with major metro benefits. Bush Intercontinental Airport is a large employer in the area along with other commercial areas along FM 1960 and Hwy. 59. Four miles north of Humble lay the master planned community of Kingwood. Developed in the late 1960s, Kingwood was first settled by oil field employees, though now the almost 40,000 residents make up a more diverse community. Kingwood covers 13,000 acres divided into 14 villages, each with its own neighborhood association and varying home price scale. Home prices range anywhere from $60,000 to more than $1 million.

Atascocita is an area six miles east of Humble with a population of 35,757. The heavily wooded area was once a possession of the Spanish government and served as a stronghold against the French. Atascocita and its neighboring community of Walden hug nearby Lake Houston.Concentrated home building in this area began in 1975. Prices range from the $50's to the low $100s. This suburban community offers large, country-club style homes as well as smaller homes in well-planned subdivisions.

Humble ISD serves more than 18,000 students in its 18 schools that cover a 90 square mile area. Other school districts in this region are Aldine, North Forest, Sheldon and Crosby.
